Semax

PCAC recommended

By Stephen Kimball, 26+ years researching the health, wellness, supplement, and peptide industries

As of October 2026, Semax isn’t approved for any use in the U.S. and isn’t on the list of ingredients pharmacies may compound with. It left FDA’s safety-risk list in April 2026 because its nominators withdrew, not because FDA cleared it. FDA’s page still says the agency has little or no safety information for the proposed routes. In July 2026, an advisory panel reportedly voted 8–5, with one abstention, to recommend adding it, even though FDA’s own reviewers advised against it. That vote is advice only; nothing changes until FDA proposes and finalizes a rule. Today it’s sold mainly by “research use only” sites, with no FDA oversight of what’s in the vial.
